Teeth naturally darken through regular use. There are some habits that elevate this staining, such as consuming dark colored drinks and sauces or smoking tobacco products, but teeth also darken because we use them a lot. We often think of using a dental crown to strengthen a weakened tooth, but they can also be used to hide damage or to change the shape and size of a tooth. Dental veneers use the same porcelain or ceramic material of a dental crown, but instead of entirely encasing the tooth, they are applied to just the front face of the tooth. Having a dental veneer placed is a more conservative treatment than a dental crown. Some patients prefer them because they don’t require the same level of trimming of the natural tooth as crowns.

Dental bonding does not use customized porcelain, just a professional level of dental artistry. Instead of applying a porcelain shell or cap, dental bonding is done using a composite quartz and resin filling material that is then shaped and molded to make simple repairs to your teeth.
Using the same filling material we use to fill cavities, we can use it to fix chips, fractures, fill gaps, and resurface the face of your teeth. Dental bonding takes a skilled eye and great precision. Some patients may prefer this treatment because it is a less-invasive and more cost-effective solution.
